NC Folklore Journal

North Carolina Folklore Journal 67-70

It seems appropriate that Bobby "McMillion-songs" would appear on the cover of the last NC Folklore Journal. Bobby was pretty clear that you aren't supposed to shed tears for those who have passed on--especially after a year has gone by. He didn't leave me great instructions on how to keep from tearing up now and then--especially when his memory walks by my open door. I'll do my best to link to this digital-only journal in the future when I round up my ducks into a semblance of a row. Thanks so much Leanne for bringing this together, and for all your work with NC Folklore. We really are in a bit of a "weird place" with this discipline, and some days it feels like the magic is all spent--especially now that those generations of keepers are, like Bobby, moving on. But the magic's not spent, it's still real, and we just have to keep coming together to sing, to write, and to share the threads of story that weave us right in there on the big loom.

Here you can download the last NC Folklore Journal.  Thanks to North Carolina Digital Collections, and also Leanne Smith, for all her work on this and many other NC Folklore Journals.
