Every First Wednesday Mad Hatter TaVern 6-8pm, Spruce PineThe traditional music of the Toe River Valley (Yancey, Avery, and Mitchell Counties), has it's own flavor and repertoire. Today there are precious few folks who play the old music of Red Wilson, Steve Ledford, Clarence Greene and many others. In an effort to "grease the gears" I have started a little jam at Mad Hatter in Spruce Pine on Lower Street (not actually the street name that's just what folks call it). Eventually I hope to add recordings and other helpful resources to help people who wish to learn our local traditional repertoire. For now, here's a youtube playlist for Red Wilson and a few others.
